About Us

About St Quintin Park Residents' Association

Our History

SQPRA as established by a small team of passionate residents over 40 years ago in the 1980s.

We came together as volunteers to enhance and improve our community every day – through local events, signposting to advice and support and providing an affordable local venue for our residents through our colourful Community Portocabin.

We believe that by working together, we can achieve a more vibrant and supportive community for current and future generations.

Our Vision

We work towards St Quintin Park to be a thriving, diverse community, where local people join together to meet and help one another, creating a central voice that is heard both within our community and outside.

Our Mission

- To meet and help one another

- To arrange social events to engage people and families of all ages and backgrounds

- To keep people informed and supported about the issues that affect them

- To campaign for better quality repairs, housing and outdoor spaces

Our Successes

Family Fun

The annual Summer Fun Day is a great opportunity to enjoy some outdoor family fun in the centre of St Quintin Park, with a bouncy castle, games and face-painting, music, refreshments, music and the opportunity to meet other community groups and members.

Our yearly Mini Pantomime brings in a band of talented actors at the Dalgarno Community Hall, appealing to young and old, with laughter, jokes and entertainment each Christmas.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page (link in the footer below) to find out what's coming up.

Resident Support

In April 2024, our Committee secured a welcome £1,000 rebate against the service charge for nearly 50 homes on the St Quintin Park Estate, which has helped residents during the cost of living crisis.

After 23 years of campaigning, we were successful in getting a reduction in service charges for 48 residents who live on the ground floor who have been paying for a lift service they do not use. Pam Bardouille of SQPRA has worked towards this outcome for many years and is very happy with the outcome for residents.

During Covid, we produced care packages and delivered to over 30 vulnerable residents in the local area.

We can signpost to support including The Dalgarno Trust, who offer legal advice on a Thursday, for example.

Friendship

Since 2022, we have hosted a tea parties in the Binbrook House Lounge to connect local people. These help reduce any feelings of isolation and loneliness amongst vulnerable residents from our estate and the surrounding area and have been extended to monthly tea parties through a successful fundraising grant from Westway Trust.

"Delicious food - always well served. The volunteers are always so kind. I love coming here!"

"Lovely day out. Nice meal. Lovely people."

Along with weekly afternoon and evening bingo, in the past we have run regular table top sales and held 20 Sunday Afternoon Film Nights from 2018-2021 - we would love to do this again if we can find a willing volunteer or two!

We enjoy getting people together to meet their neighbours.

Community Venue

Our colourful portocabin was built in 1980 and provides an affordable venue for social gatherings, clubs, meetings and activities. We continue to work hard to keep it in good condition, raising funds for extra facilities. With thanks to Bells, the painting contractor, for the decoration of the portocabin and a DIY session for residents.

We are working hard with partners to install WiFi, and in future, our aim is to establish a permanent building for the community on the site.

Children's Play Area

In 2019, we successfully secured funding to transform a derelict piece of land into a small family play area for the benefit of local residents. The work involved surveys, workshops and securing £100,000 of funding from Clarion, Groundwork, Sports London, the Greener City Fund, Resco and Tesco Bags for Life  We are always keen for volunteers to help us maintain the area.
